Interlibrary Loan Rules for Other Libraries
The Indianapolis Public Library observes the provisions of the National Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States for transactions outside the state of Indiana as well as current regional agreements and protocols within the state.

Accepting Requests
Our preferred means of accepting requests from other libraries is the OCLC ILL subsystem (our symbol is IMD). We also accept mailed requests on standard ALA ILL forms at:
Interlibrary Loan
I-MCPL
P.O. Box 211
Indianapolis IN 46206
We do not accept phone requests for interlibrary loans.
Fees
We charge a $10.00 fee per item loaned to out-of-state libraries. We charge no fees to Indiana libraries except photocopy costs. Charges can be invoiced with shipment, or can use OCLC IFM.
Photocopy Charges
We charge $1.00 per exposure for all photocopies done by our staff (same as our fee to our own patrons). Regional INCOLSA member libraries receive photocopies at no charge.
Materials Not Loaned on Interlibrary Loan
We will loan any materials not currently checked out from our circulating collection at Central Library, with these exceptions: AV materials; reference materials; microfilm; periodicals. We may restrict loans due to local demand, value or irreplaceability.
Loan Period
Our standard loan period is 5 weeks with no renewals.
Delivery Systems
We regularly deliver and receive by U.S. Mail, by United Parcel Service, and by Pillow Express (within Indiana).
Online Catalog
Our holdings are searchable in our Online Catalog.
