Pathfinder, by Orson Scott Card

PathfinderIn his primitive village, Rigg is a successful young trapper, because he can see the past paths made by animals and humans.   His friend Umbo can slow down time.  While Rigg’s father is dying, he tells Rigg that he must go to the capital city and seek the sister he did not know he had.   In space a ship full of colonists from Earth seek a planet where they can land and prosper.  Card, the author of the classic Ender’s Game, slowly weaves these two stories together in a mind-bending adventure with time travel, revolution, murder, invisibility, and a really large library.

Pathfinder is one of the most complex and challenging young adult novels ever written.   First of a series.
