“There was a curse. There was a girl. And in the end, there was a grave.” This is how the story begins. Read this story and step into the gothic backwoods town of Gatlin, South Carolina. The story’s narrator, Ethan Wate is falling for a girl for the first time. Her family, his family, this town is populated by wonderfully unusual characters. Meet a friendly librarian who aptly provides the books, but not the answers, a kindly Incubus, one who lives on mortal dreams, and my favorite, a dog with a gift for watchfulness named Boo Radley, there are many, many more in this book’s over six hundred pages. Ethan’s fate rides on his unraveling the mystery of a family curse. Fast paced, cast with beautiful creatures, this is a story to fall into for days. Surely, there will be a sequel.
