In addition to the Wal-Mart openings, “TeenWorks plans to hire 270 teens for jobs at community partner sites such as IU Health, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Indy Urban Acres, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Great Places and the Indianapolis Cultural Trail/Bikeshare. Students who have at least a 2.5 grade point average and qualify for free or reduced-price lunches will have preference for the jobs.”

Teens, thinking about getting a job?

Here are some quick tips from Janet, Job Center Assistant for Southport Library, for teens who are looking for employment. (Thanks, Janet!)

To get started, this article has great tips for teens who are looking for jobs for the summer.

Almost all food chains and stores want an online application first.  Then they suggest going to the establishment and introducing yourself to the manager.

The zoo hires for the summer, mainly in their concession areas. (The Indianapolis Zoo).

A great job that is always in demand is life-guarding.  The City of Indianapolis hires 300 every summer.  YMCAs, recreation centers, and parks do too.  The Red Cross offers life-guard training, CPR and First Aid Classes.

Are you looking for a job this summer or planning for your future career? Check out these websites and see if they can help you find what you are looking for. If you have problems finding a job with these resources ask around or advertise in your neighborhood. You might find a job as a pet sitter or as a baby sitter. Check the library out if you need help.

 

Groovejob.com has summer jobs just for teens that are updated regularly. It has jobs in many different sectors from retail to restaurant to offices.
