The Slammin’ Rhymes Challenge VI provided an opportunity for teen poets to show off their talents. Presented as part of Fall Festival, The African American History Committee of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library sponsors this event for Marion County students in grades 9-12.
The top 10 student poets were invited to perform their winning entries on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Central Library, Clowes Auditorium. Each work was judged for its originality, quality of writing, theme development and they each had to be clean, absolutely no profanity was allowed. Prizes included participation gift cards and certificates.

I am the Robert of Arsenal Technical High School, although I was not at the ceremony, I was a winner and I appreciate this very much. I am writing because I am the president of the student council of Arsenal Techncal High School and We are putting on a poetry contest of our own and we are looking for judges for said competition. Although we do not have an exact date set for our “Words on Fire Poetry Slam” we plan to have this event this month. If the person responsible for response to this forum can contact me ASAP I would gladly appreciate it. My email address is robertsherrell716@gmail.com
