Viola in the Spotlight, by Adriana Trigiani

Viola in the SpotlightTrigiani’s account of a teen heroine trying to juggle internship and family dog-walking duties made me smile. Trigiani is a good observer of human relationships, and captures teen angst nicely, even in a happy family. She paints New York City and Viola’s grandmother with great affection.

SPOILER ALERT: In the real world, I’m not sure deceiving her friend’s parents would be so readily forgiven, or that Viola would so readily abandon her beloved New York to return to Indiana.
