Another summer is coming to a close. What made it so memorable for you? The Summer Reading Program? Going to the Pool? Summer Camp? No homework? The end of summer means a new school year is just around the corner. Now that you’ve had some time to calm down from last school year, why not start the next one with a new attitude and focus.
How early does your school start? Did you know that starting later actually helps Teens with better grades, attitudes, and sleeping routines? Here’s an MSNBC article linking early school hours with teen car crashes, and here’s a piece on Neatorama in support of allowing students to sleep in. What do you think? Is it really true or beneficial to start later, say at 9 am instead of 7 or 8 am?
Have you checked out your local library branch activities like book clubs, movies or free classes at Central? Don’t forget to plan for Teen Read Week October 17-23, “Books with Beat”. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the TeenScene blog for further Teen Programs and Reviews.
