Library Snapshot Day was held on April 12, 2011, a day set aside during National Library Week to document a typical day in the life of the Library and to underscore its importance in the lives of individuals and families. Staff chronicled through photographs a variety of activities that serve the public and take place behind the scenes that allow the Library to operate efficiently. These include the cataloging of books, loading of delivery vehicles, opening boxes of materials, and placing them on shelves. Hundreds of photographs that tell the Library story during Library Snapshot Day are available at http://www.flickr.com/photos/61186423@N02/
In 2010, the Library was also given a 4-star rating by the Library Journal professional trade publication, a top 10 ranking among urban libraries in the Hennen American Public Library index.
