Choose Kind: Unity Day – Together Against Bullying

bullying-unity-day-logo

Nobody should be mean. That’s an important skill to pass on to small children. Even very young children can learn to be kind. Important teachable moments happen every day. A teacher, parent or other adult can help children find ways to understand their own frustrations and feelings, which will help them be kinder to others. Remind them that everyone is different. Not better or worse. Just different. The books listed below can help children learn how to be kind to their friends and not be a bully, or help them learn how to survive being bullied themselves.

Doug Unplugged

Doug plugs in to download everything he needs to know because Doug is a robot. When a pigeon flying outside his window distracts him from his studies, Doug leans toward the window to get a better look. His cord stretches…and Doug unplugs! No longer attached to a power source, Doug lets his curiosity free, exploring his city for the first time gathering real experiences to add to facts he’s downloaded. The best place to discover? The park! You just can’t download everything you need, especially having fun with a friend! Author: Dan Yaccarino
