This just in from Susanne:
Crawfordsville native Will Shortz found his passion early in life. As a teenager he began creating crossword puzzles, and now, several years later, he is the Crossword Editor of The New York Times. In addition, Shortz contributes an audio puzzle on National Public Radio every Sunday morning.
The library holds an audio CD, Sunday Puzzles, on which Shortz and NPR Weekend Edition host Liane Hansen puzzle over some of their favorites.
The library’s collection also includes a DVD, Wordplay, which features Shortz and some of his most ardent followers, including Jon Stewart, Ken Burns, and Bill Clinton.
Was it risky for Will Shortz to devote his life to puzzles? You can hear him talk about it during this year’s Spirit and Place Festival, which features events involving the experience of risk-taking. Shortz will appear in the Clowes Auditorim of the Central Library on Sunday, November 3 from 3:00 – 4:30.pm. Registration is required for this event. You can register on the Spirit and Place page that is linked to, above.
