About Wayne Branch

The Wayne Branch Library is the closest branch to the airport, just off Rockville Road on the county's far west side. Located just over one mile from I-465 and 1.5 miles from Ben Davis High School and the Chapel Hill 7th and 8th Grade Center, our 13,500 square foot building houses 78,000 books in separate adult and children's wings connected by a centrally-located circulation desk. The Wayne Library initially was located in a shopping center off Rockville Road but, as the population on the westside grew, IndyPL saw the need for a larger, library-owned branch. Through land gifts and other funds, the Wayne Branch was completed in its current location at 198 South Girls School Road and opened to the public on March 21st, 1983. The building is set back from Rockville Road and can be accessed either by the main entrance off of Girls School Road or through the Rockville Plaza Shopping Center. The Wayne Branch Library provides a wide variety of programs and services, and its location is sometimes given as the branch that has the painted fence, done by staff and members of the Wayne Township community.
