Meet the Branch Manager
![]() |
Tia Jah Wynne AyersHi, I'm Tia Jah Wynne Ayers, manager of the Pike Branch. There are two places where I tend to overindulge, and I work at one of them! I've always loved books and reading, and I surround myself with fantasy, mystery, and Regency romance novels in print, electronic, and audio formats. I have the maximum number of items checked out at all times. The second place I tend to lose control is at the fabric store. I collect fabric and patterns like I collect books, voraciously! Please stop by and tell me about your collecting habit or your favorite books. Maybe we can find something to contribute to your overindulgence. |
About Pike Branch
The second county branch in the library system, the Westlane branch opened at 7141 North Michigan Road on August 14, 1967 with only 1,500 square feet and 3,000 volumes. In October 1969 the library was expanded to 3,300 square feet.
IndyPL bought 2.76 acres in the 6700 block of Zionsville Road from the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township in 1974. Progress on a new library was slow, and on May 1, 1985 groundbreaking ceremonies were held on the site of the new 13,000 square-foot library.
On April 5, 1986 at 5 pm the Westlane branch library closed its doors for the last time and on May 3, 1986 the new Pike branch library opened to patrons. The building designers received a citation from the Indianapolis chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the Pike Branch Library.
In 1999 the Pike Branch Library was expanded and remodeled to 20,000 square feet and 110,000 volumes, and on September 30, 2000 the renovated Pike branch library was rededicated.
