This one is for all of you lovers of The Sisters Grimm. When Elizabeth gets an after school job at The New York Circulating Material Repository she finds out that some libraries let people check out more things than just books. This library lets people check out objects…like tools, sports equipments, musical instruments, lamps and mirrors.
There are some objects that are really special, like Abraham Lincoln’s hat. Then there are the items in the Grimm Collection. It turns out that Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm collected more than just fairy tale stories. They collected stuff mentioned in the fairy tales too. You know, spindles, a glass coffin, golden eggs, 12 pairs of dancing shoes, glass slippers… The items are real and in a library in New York! And to borrow them you don’t need a library card. You DO have to make a deposit though….something with some value…like….your courage, your sense of humor, or maybe the promise of your first born! (What would you leave behind for a chance at the magic mirror?) When some of the Grimm objects are returned without their magical properties, Elizabeth and her friends have a fairy tale mystery on their hands. Author: Polly Shulman
