A Wrinkle in Time

The 1960s was a great decade for chapter books – look how many of these books are still widely read and loved today…fifty years later! Plus, several of them were Newbery Medal and Newbery Medal Honor books…the kind that are still favorites. Read these together…right NOW! Because you can’t get much better than A Wrinkle in Time, From the Crazy Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basel E. Frankweiler and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. All three all-time favorites.

  1. I want to buy a book for my grandson that I used many years ago with my second and third grade students. It is an early chapter book. A brother and sister visit their grandparents. They solve a mystery (a big tree in the yard is involved) by decoding messages and following clues. It is not a Boxcar Children’s book. The book is old–maybe as old as the 60s.

It’s so funny that I can see the cover, but I can’t remember the author or the title. I think the author wrote several other books, but this was one my students really loved because of having to decode the clues.

    Any help? Thanks so much!
