COLTSTRONG, LIBRARYSTRONG
CONTEST RULES
November 26 – December 31, 2012
• The contest is to promote and encourage young people, 6 to 17 years-old, to use their library cards at the various branches and Central Library of the Indianapolis Public Library (the “Library”).
• The contest begins 12:00 am on November 26, 2012, and ends 11:59 pm on December 31, 2012.
• Library card holders are automatically entered into the contest when they use their library card for any library service. Only one library card usage per day, per person will count for entry into the contest. No purchase is necessary to win the contest.
• The more days during the contest period the library card holders use their library card, the more automatic chances are entered into the contest and the greater the odds of winning.
• After the contest period ends, one winner will randomly be drawn by computer and notified on January 2, 2013.
• The date and time of the Colts players visit is to be determined by the Indianapolis Colts and the Library.
• The contest winner will be eligible to choose which Library location hosts the visit.
• The event is limited to the winning child, the winning child’s family and 20 of the child’s friends each accompanied by an adult – not to exceed 50 people.
• The contest winner must be a Library card holder, 6 to 17 years-old, and a legal resident of the fifty United States.
• The contest is open to the general public, not Library employees.
• The contest is run by the Indianapolis Public Library, P.O. Box 211, Indianapolis, Indiana 46206-0211.
• Contest prize has no retail value.
The Indianapolis Colts are joining The Indianapolis Public Library to promote using your library card during the “COLTSTRONG, LIBRARYSTRONG” campaign through December 31. The campaign seeks to increase awareness about the many ways a library card can be used to take advantage of the free resources of the public library.
Colts quarterback Andrew Luck and tight end Dwayne Allen are spokesmen for the Library card campaign which includes TV and radio commercials and promotion through social media. It is one of the first community endorsements for the duo since arriving in Indianapolis. More

Only 6 and 17 year-olds can enter??
Yes, that’s true Scott. This contest if for children 6-17 years old.
Please clarify that it is for young people 6 THROUGH 17 years old and not just 6 or 17 year olds, as I’m afraid that is what Scott was asking about.
To clarify the contest if for children 6 through 17 years old.
What a wonderful program!!! We will certainly participate.
I want to enter, but I’m a grandma. If I win, I’ll let my grandkids come too.
What a great program! The kids had some books already checked out that we just renewed online tonight…will that count as an “entry” into the contest?
@Donna – take your grandkids to the library to checkout books (make sure they use their OWN library card)….maybe if one of them wins they’ll let YOU come. : )
OMG ANDREW LUCK
@Renee – As long as the books were checked out on your child’s library card renewing online on Nov. 26th did count as an entry.
Well I like my Indiana Colts team also and I am a big kid at heart. There’s no way I could participate? Or maybe there’s a similar contest for anyone with the age of adult?
Too bad adult Colts fans can’t participate. Isn’t there a contest for a real loyal Colts fan like myself to participate in?
@Carla, this contest is specifically for kids – Andrew and Dwayne wanted this to be a special treat for a child. Andrew says in an article on http://www.colts.com “As an avid reader, I want to use this opportunity to encourage others, especially kids, to experience the joy of reading and share the important role the library plays in supporting lifelong learning.”
You can participate by encouraging kids you know to use their library card. Maybe one of them will win a pretty spectacular day.
This is fantastic! I had heard that Andrew Luck is a regular reader–what a great way to promote reading amongst our children. Big kudos to IMCPL and to Andrew Luck and the Colts for this great program!
Thank you 4 the postive advice, ps good game.
To whom it may concern,
I would like to do this for our center. Please let me know if this is available or something similar to it for an entire center? The children would like a visit!
Thank you,
Jody
@Jody The Colts contest is designed to encourage children to use their library cards. An individual child can win, not a group or a center. One of the children in your care could win though, if that child uses their library card. Encourage your kids to use the library – maybe one of them will win! If one of your kids wins, s/he can invite 20 friends to the library branch of his/her choice.
I really wish the Library could do this for adults too. I’m sitting at circulation right now staring at Andrew and Dwayne. Wanna meet them in person!!!!!!:)
hope i win i alredy have 30 books out and i am 12 years old
It is awesome that you have 30 books out @moudatou! If any of them are good come back on and tell us about it. For the contest, remember that you get ONE entry per day no matter how many books you check out that day. To get another entry you have to use your library card on a new day. A useful tip…because I know you want to win. The more entries you have the better your chances are. : )
thank you carrie for the tips:)
Is it Marion County only??
Wouldn’t it be great if all of the books checked out were read.
@moudatou You’re welcome. @Ann An Indianapolis Library Card is required to participate. And yes, it would be great if all of the books checked out were read, but it is only slightly less than great if just some of them are read. Or even just one. : )
Wasn’t it brilliant NOT to make the rules one entry per item checked out? The library would look like the bread aisle at Marsh the night before a snow storm. : )
The only thing I’m bummed about is my boys are huge Colts fans, and big fans of Andrew Luck, but they are 4 and 2. I wish our 4 year old could participate in this. Guess it’ll have to wait a couple years.
@Mackenzie Maybe you can find some neighbor kids or cousins that ARE the right ages…offer to take them to the library to use their library cards…and then if one of them wins, maybe your boys can be guests at the party. The winner gets to bring 20 friends.
too bad i didnt win ^-^
