Donald Sobol, the author of the Encyclopedia Brown books, died July 11th. He was 87.
If you like mysteries you should give Encyclopedia Brown a try. His real name is Leroy Brown. He is 10 years old and he is a detective in his hometown of Idaville, Florida. His partner is Sally Kimble, who is tough and brave, which is a nice kind of partner to have.
I always liked these books because the solution to the mystery is at the back of the book, so you can try to follow the clues and figure it out, just like Encyclopedia Brown.
There are a bunch of them…and one more…in honor of the 50th anniversary of the series, and now, to honor Mr. Sobol, Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Soccer Scheme, will come out in October, 2012.
