When we study history, a lot of time we get caught up in the dates and events that happened and pay too little attention to the STORY of what happened. Who were the people involved? What did they say to each other? How did people make decisions? Franklin and Winston is a book that tells the story of a very important meeting between the President of the United States, Franklin Roosevelt, and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, in 1941.
At the height of World War II, only a few days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill began an extraordinary visit, during which they made plans that would lead to the success of the Allied powers as well as to a continuing peace after the war ended.
In December 7, 1941 the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. On December 8, 1941 America declared war on Japan. So these two guys, they have a meeting a few DAYS after Pearl Harbor and the make a plan…a plan that would lead to the success of the allies in 1945…four YEARS later. Two smart guys.
