Eyewitness Civil War The U.S. Civil War lasted from 1861-1965. It was between the Northern States (the Union) and the Southern States (the Confederacy). Famous battles of The Civil War include The Battle of Bull Run, The Battle of Vicksburg, Antietam, Appomattox and The Battle of Gettysburg.
