To kick off the Library's 2013 Summer Reading Program, "Read Together, Right Now!", children, teens and families are invited for a theatrical recreation concert celebrating the greatest rock and roll band of all time, the Beatles!
Children and families are invited for stories from guest readers, games, activities and snacks during this program sponsored by IMCU. Meet the Library's mascot, Digit, as well as Cubbie from IMCU. Those attending are encouraged to register for the Library's 2013 Summer Reading Program and receive a prize.
Children ages 8 and up are invited to talk about and investigate the album art of The Beatles. Presented by the Indianapolis Art Center, this workshop will show young ones how visual art and music work together. Using collage materials and old LP sleeves, participants will alter an album cover to create a new, original cover for the recording artist or group of their choice.
Teens are invited to use sharp cutting tools to create a one-of-a-kind messenger bag during this workshop presented by Art With a Heart. Attendees should arrive on time so they can complete the project.
Children and families are invited for a funny and insightful educational program by Master Entertainer Troy Roark. His show is filled with juggling, magic and comedy. Attendees will leave with a message that will be remembered long after the show is over.
Children and families are invited to a fun music concert featuring the percussion group, CLANG! Its musicians play homemade and wacky instruments. Kids will have a chance to help out with the music!
Children ages 8 and up are invited to create a road map to guide their travels using stickers, old maps and other images. This 60-minute workshop is presented by Art With a Heart.
Children of all ages and families are invited to take a reading time out and read like a pro with members of the Indiana Pacers. This storytime will feature community guest readers and the Indiana Pacers' "wheel of prizes."
Young ones ages 10 - 14 are invited to use laptops and software to explore digital creations of music, art and film inspired by the colorful era of the 1960's. Each participant will receive a USB drive to keep.
Children and families are invited to meet an animal face-to-face and spend time getting to know about it. Presented by Animalia, this program will allow attendees to ask questions about the animal they see. This program is made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
Families are invited to join award-winning photographer and writer David FitzSimmons in exploring the amazing world of animals as described in his award-winning children's picture book, "Curious Critters," and found in his 24-image exhibit at Central Library on display through June 28.
