Take the Indiana Black History Challenge and Win! In celebration of Black History Month, children and families are invited to learn about Indiana’s rich African-American history by participating in the Indiana Black History Challenge. Since 2001, the Indiana Historical Society has partnered with the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library to create a contest which encourages the investigation of Indiana’s black history.

Last year, more than 2,600 students and families participated in the Challenge. Starting in February, take the Challenge online or pick up a game card at a branch of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library or at the History Center.

All participants who complete the Challenge with 10 correct answers are entered into a drawing for the grand prize – a Family Fun Pack, including a one-night stay at the Hampton Inn in downtown Indianapolis, a tour of the Madam Walker Theatre, four tickets to The Children’s Museum, four tickets to the Indianapolis Zoo and a $20 gift certificate to King David Dogs. Prizes will be given to runners-up as well.
