Yours to Create: A Preliminary Report on the Library's New Strategic Plan
Individuals of all ages are invited to learn about the future direction of The Indianapolis Public Library during the free public event, "Yours to Create: A Preliminary Report on the Library's New Strategic Plan," on Tuesday, January 28 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair Street.
For the past six months, the Library has received input from citizens and conducted research used to develop a preliminary plan for Library services for the years 2015 - 2020. The focus is on how the Library can align its services to address changing local needs in such areas as education, workforce readiness, business development, access to technology, diversity, civic engagement, and nurturing safe and vibrant neighborhoods. The Library's future course also depends on adequate and sustainable resources.
Following the public event at Central Library, Library CEO Jackie Nytes will begin a tour of all Library locations to introduce the proposed plan to citizens and receive their feedback. Initial branch visits will be on Wednesday, January 29 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Spades Park Branch, 1801 Nowland Avenue, and on Thursday, January 30 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Eagle Branch, 3325 Lowry Road. CEO visits will continue throughout February and early March.
Final consideration of the Library's Strategic Plan and approval by the Library Board of Trustees will come later in the spring of 2014. Implementation will be reflected in the Library's 2015 budget and operations plan.
