Springtime Children's Programs @ the Library!
Throughout March and April, children and families are invited to The Indianapolis Public Library for a variety of fun and educational programs. Programs at various Library locations are intended to introduce young ones to the world of the arts.
This year's lineup of free programs includes:
Families and children of all ages are invited for a free magical show that pays homage to the beloved Dr. Seuss and his children's books. Kids in the audience will receive a free copy of a Dr. Seuss book (while supplies last). Presented by FamilyTime Entertainment, this program is made possible by The Robert & Toni Bader Charitable Foundation and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
Children ages 7 and up are invited to learn the basics of face painting in this hands-on workshop presented by Hugabug Family Entertainment. Registration is required. Each program is limited to 30 participants.
Children ages 8 and up are invited to learn the basics of Manga-style drawing and how to incorporate storytelling through the characters' facial expressions. This class will be led by instructors from Art With a Heart. Registration is required. Class sizes are limited to 25 participants per session.
Preschoolers ages 3 - 6 and an adult are invited to foster their love of music and cultivate singing and rhythm skills during this program presented by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Learning Community. Through the use of song tales, finger plays, rhymes and simple songs, children will develop musical intelligence to last a lifetime. Registration is required. Space is limited.
Preschoolers ages 3 - 6 are invited to visit the Library for an animal-themed storytime and then stick around for a live animal encounter with a representative from Animalia. Registration is required. Space is limited.
Preschoolers ages 3 - 6 and an adult are invited to enjoy the health benefits that yoga can offer. They'll join certified yoga instructors from the Greater Indianapolis YMCA for a 45-minute parent and child yoga program. Registration is required. Space is limited.
Babies and preschoolers up to age six and an adult are invited to tune up their signing voices and put on their dancing shoes! They'll enjoy being a part of this fun musical program with folk singer Bobbie Lancaster.
Families and children ages 5 and up are invited for a special performance of "Inn of the Seven Dwarves," presented by member of the Indianapolis Opera. With a slight twist on a classic story, this children's opera explores the issues of acceptance in a bed and breakfast run by a cranky innkeeper.
