Second Chance Series: Everybody Deserves a Second Chance

Adults are invited to a series hosted by District 68 Indiana State Representative Jud McMillin that will provide an opportunity to learn about House Bill 1482, which took effect on July 1 and describes several levels of expungement for different levels of crime. The series, "Second Chance Series: Everybody Deserves a Second Chance!" continues at various Library locations in November and December.

Under the new law, misdemeanors can be expunged five years after a conviction, while those convicted of class D felonies or higher must wait at least 8 years to petition for expungement. Prior to this law taking effect, Indiana had no law that allowed for expungement.

Remaining programs in the series will be presented at the following times and locations:

Tuesday, December 10 from 5:30 - 8 p.m.
East Thirty-Eighth Street Branch, 5420 E. 38th Street
Participating in this session will be District 98 Indiana State Representative Robin Shackleford
and District 34 Indiana State Senator Jean Breaux.
