Hot Jazz for Cool Kids!


Leading Indianapolis jazz musicians will show off their skills and introduce young people to the world of jazz during the series, "Hot Jazz for Cool Kids!," continuing through March at Central Library in the Clowes Auditorium, 40 E. St. Clair Street.

Now in its third season, this series of one-hour family-friendly concerts will be entertaining for those of all ages while making for a perfect Sunday afternoon at the Library. The programs will provide a fun way for children to learn about jazz music.

"Dixieland Jazz"The Naptown Strutters

Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m.
Dixieland jazz comes to the Library with the sounds of the Naptown Strutters led by trombonist Dan Hughley. Experience New Orleans jazz in the tradition of Louis Armstrong and other early jazz greats. The group features Larry McWilliams on trumpet, Bill James on clarinet, Jon Block on bass, Larry Mechem on piano, and Gene Markiewicz on drums.

"Hot Jazz for Cool Kids!" is presented by the Learning Curve at Central Library, the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation and Indy Jazz Fest.
