Fall Fest 2013 & Slammin' Rhymes Challenge VIII

Families and individuals of all ages are invited for an afternoon of inspiration and cultural entertainment surrounding the theme, "Lyrics of My Life: My Inspirational Song." Featured speaker will be pioneering hip-hop artist MC Lyte, who's the author of "Unstoppable: Igniting the Power to Achieve Your Greatest Potential." There will be performances or presentations by WHHH Hot 96.3 FM hip-hop personality DJ Wrekk 1, Christian rap artist WillStomp, spoken word artist and human beat box Tony Styx, the hip-hop dance group Traci Urban Jamm Dance Studio, and singer and spoken word artist Nedra "Vokull" Sobule. The afternoon also will feature the Slammin' Rhymes Challenge VIII and awards presentation. Teens wishing to participate in the challenge can fill out an online entry form at www.indypl.org. Entry deadline is October 28. This event is sponsored by the Library's African-American History Committee. This event, to be held in Central Library's Clowes Auditorium, is sponsored by The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation, Indiana Arts Commission, Flaherty & Collins Properties, and the Dr. Michael R. Twyman Endowment Fund.
