Journey Through Eastern Europe: Rock Music and Politics of the Czech Underground

As part of the Library's series celebrating the diversity of East European cultures, languages and people, individuals of all ages are invited to trace the development of Czech rock music from its beginnings in the 50's and through its underground development in the 1970's and 80's. Learn about the rock band, The Plastic People of the Universe, and their trial in 1976 which was the impetus for the human rights declaration Charter 77 founded, among others, by the dissident and future president Václav Havel. |
