Hangzhou, China: Sister City Celebration of Shared Literature, Cultures & People

Individuals of all ages are invited to celebrate the city's Sister City relationship with Hangzhou, China, the capital of Zhejiang Province, during an evening of cultural interaction and performances. At 6 p.m., a public reception will feature a display of donated books from the Hangzhou Public Library to The Indianapolis Public Library, examples of Chinese cuisine, and opportunities to meet with those who have roots to Hangzhou. Attending will be Jane Gehlhausen, Director of International and Cultural Affairs in the Office of Mayor Greg Ballard; Sherry Dong, Chairperson of the Hangzhou Sister City Committee; and Library representatives. At 7 p.m., enjoy a variety of Chinese cultural performances featuring Chinese dance, music and martial arts. The 6 p.m. public reception will be held in the Riley Meeting Room. At 7 p.m., the Chinese cultural performances will be held in the Clowes Auditorium at Central Library. Seating in the Clowes Auditorium is limited to 350.
