2010 ESU National Shakespeare Competition Central Library (Central) Sun., Feb 28, 2010 2:00 pm Age Level: Adults, School Age (6-11), Teen (12-17) Category: Presentation or Lecture Adults and children ages 10 and up are invited to hear sonnets or monologues from one of Shakespeare's plays performed by high school students. This competition, presented by the Indianapolis Branch of the English-Speaking Union, is the next step toward possible national advancement that includes acting workshops in New York, competing at Lincoln Center, and a full-tuition scholarship for summer study in the United Kingdom. Journey Through Asia: Ongaku - Japanese Music Central Library (Central) Thu., Jun 10, 2010 6:00 pm Age Level: No Age Restrictions Category: Multicultural Program As part of a series that celebrates the diversity of Asian culture, language and people, individuals of all ages are invited to learn about koto and sangen, two Japanese string instuments. Dressed in the traditional Japanese Kimono, Garret will demonstrate both classical and contemporary Japanese music and include information about customs and language.
