Body Banner Story Time

We look different on the outside, but have the same important parts on the inside. Enjoy head-to-toe learning in this interactive story time with healthy body books and activities. Little learners help make a stop motion animation while placing Velcro fabric parts onto body banners or anatomy aprons.

Bodies are made of all kinds of shapes. First, students study a wooden figure to observe the different shapes found within the human body structure. Next, use Image Blender software to find the best shapes to fill in the human figure, and add flair!

Indiana Academic Standards: Science K.5.1, 1.1.1, 1.4.2, 1.6.1, 2.6.1, 2.6.2, 3.2.6

Found Object Figure Sculpture

Our bodies are like machines with many working parts. Students study a torso model of the internal human structure, and then work together to build their own sculpture using provided recycled materials and found objects. Use a webcam and a laptop to capture the construction process and create a stop motion animation to see the sculpture come to life.

Indiana Academic Standards: Science 2.1.6, 2.1.7, 2.2.4, 2.6.2, 3.4.7, 4.1.8
