Story Time: El Dia de los Muertos & Halloween

Today at story time, we celebrated El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Halloween! We sang songs and rhymes about pumpkins and bats, and read stories about sugar skulls and cats! We had fun talking about trick-or-treating and dressing up for Halloween. In the story Monster Needs a Costume, Monster can’t make up his mind what to be for Halloween, and comes up with a clever and creative solution. We also read the book The Day of the Dead / El Dia de los Muertos to learn more about the holiday, (which originated in Mexico), where we take time to remember and honor relatives who have gone before us. For our craft, we decorated skulls in a variety of bright colors and designs, just like the decorative El Dia de los Muertos sugar skulls. Check out the photos below!
