3-2-1 BLAST OFF! Story time for Little Learners!

This week at story time we launched an epic adventure through outer space!

We had such a wonderful turnout with some familiar faces and LOTS of new friends!

Together we read:

Zoom, Rocket, Zoom! by Margaret Mayo

Zoo Zoom! by Candace Ryan

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. A classic rhyme illustrated by Sylvia Long

Higher! Higher! by Leslie Patricelli

The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffers

As we read we sang songs and rhymes to help us put on our space suits, climb on a rocketship and BLAST OFF to the moon and mars, and zip around the stars!

To finish it off we had fun coloring pictures of planets and playing in a big tub of HOMEMADE MOON SAND!

This image was taken before the big mess ensued! Not to worry, I brought plenty of baby wipes. 🙂

Until next time!

Story Time with Little Learners: See the Shapes!

This week at Story Time was all about shapes!

We read:

Lots of Dots by Craig Frazier (This was a big hit with the little ones!)

Color Zoo by Lois Ehlert

Whoo? Whoo?  by David A. Carter

Little Cloud by Eric Carle

It Looked Like Spilt Milk  by Charles Shaw

We drew shapes in the air and learned some new rhymes.

Then at the end, I pulled out our light table and we all played together with shapes. We mixed different colored shapes to make new colors! We also made silly faces with the shapes!

When it was time to go thankfully there were no tears and I had lots of little helpers for clean up!

Story Time 2.0: Sunnyside Elementary

This week, Sunnyside Elementary came with 3rd and 4th grade classes to visit the library!

During their visit, they participated in Storytime 2.0. The students were split up into small groups of 3-4 and were able to collaborate together to write a 5 sentence short story. The goal for each story was to have a setting, characters, and a beginning, middle, and end. Once they were all done with their stories, each group had the opportunity to come up onto the stage in our Green Screen Theater to read and act out their story! We recorded each story using Mixcraft so that you can listen to all of their stories below! They did a fantastic job!
