Meet the Artists XXII
View the works of prominent African-American artists during the 22nd annual “Meet the Artists” exhibit on display during February throughout Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair Street.
In what has become one of the city’s most celebrated art traditions, this year’s event will feature the works of six locally-renowned artists, a guest artist, and two youth artists, all representing a variety of artistic mediums. Featured artists include Bruce E. Armstrong (mixed media), Glenn Walker (portraits), Lobyn Hamilton (mixed media), Patricia Gaines-Mills (oils), Ivery Wilson- Teague (wood sculpture), and D. DelReverda-Jennings (hand-wrought precious metal jewelry). Guest artist Mychael Shane from Detroit, Michigan will present scratch board art. Featured youth artists will be St. Louis, Missouri college student Kiarra Lynn Smith and Dior Allen, a talented two-year-old abstract artist from Indianapolis.
The artists’ works will be available for public viewing through February 28 during the regular hours of Central Library.
The public is invited to meet the artists and enjoy an evening of cultural entertainment during the “Meet the Artists Gala Opening Reception” on Saturday, February 6 from 6 - 10 p.m. at Central Library. There will be a variety of special presentations, including urbanized western drumming by Urban Vibes, a performance by illusionist and magician Walter King, Jr., aka “The Spellbinder,” poetry readings by Atlanta, Georgia poet Gigi Jordan, the offerings of Greg Radford’s Mature Midway, a performance by the Nu Soul Theory Band, and a fashion exhibition, “The Fashion Movement,” coordinated by designer Raymond Gray.
The gala is free and open to the public. “Meet the Artists” is sponsored by the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library’s African-American History Committee.

Not entirely convinced. One important point I take into consideration is how challenging it is to do justice to the subject matter so completely. I was thinking about this when planning to upload an article for my own website.
