Celebrating Woody Guthrie at Irvington
The Historic Irvington Community Council (HICC) is sponsoring a week of events celebrating the 100th anniversary of Woody Guthrie’s birth July 6-14. Saturday the 14th is his actual birthday, and a number of musicians will play in Ellenberger Park from noon to dusk.
The Irvington Library will host some events during the week. Individuals of all ages are invited.
The film Bound for Glory will be shown twice during the week.
Saturday, July 7, at 5:00 pm (The branch will close at 5:00 to all except for those attending the showing.)
Tuesday, July 10, at 5:00 pm
The film Woody Guthrie: Ain’t Got No Home will be shown on Monday, July 9, at 3:30 pm
At 6:30 that evening–Monday, July 16–there will be a talk and performance by Mac Bellner and Frank Watson about Woody Guthrie’s life and times.
