The highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting has again been bestowed on the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library. For the 17th consecutive year, IMCPL has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement represents a significant accomplishment by a governmental unit and its management. "As stewards of public resources, the Library places the highest priority on financial accountability and oversight," stated Greg Jordan, President of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Board of Trustees. "We are extremely proud to be consistently recognized for demonstrating such commitment," he added. The Library's CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the reporting program, demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the Library's financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 16,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D. C. |
