IMCPL Reduces Fees for Replacement Library Cards
In an effort to improve service to patrons, the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library has reduced the fees to replace IMCPL library cards.
If a library card is reported lost or stolen, a patron will need to re-register for a card, show proper identification verifying name and address and pay $1 for a replacement card. The previous charge had been $5.
Also, the fee for replacing a temporary library card, formerly $1, has been eliminated. If a patron forgets his library card when visiting the library and a temporary card is needed, the patron must show identification verifying name and address and the temporary card will be issued for the current visit only.
The fee reductions were approved December 14, 2006 by the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Board of Trustees.
The lower fees are seen as a way to encourage more patrons to replace their library cards while eliminating a financial deterrent to do so.
Application for library cards can be made at any IMCPL location. Library cards can be issued at the time of application and will allow patrons to check out items from the Library's catalog of 12 million items, as well as access services through the Library's website.
