Teen Garage Band Callout for Teen Arts and Music Festival 2006
Teen garage bands have until Saturday, April 15 to apply for participation in the Teen Arts and Music Festival 2006, to be held on Saturday, June 24 at the Wayne Branch of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, 198 S. Girls School Road.
The festival will highlight music, art exhibits and other creative demonstrations by teens. The inaugural festival in 2005 attracted over 1,000 people from central Indiana. In addition to the Teen Garage Band Showcase, it featured the public dedication of a mural created by teens on the library’s fence, teen art displays and a demonstration of low-rider bikes.
Eight teen garage bands will be selected from applicants, based on quality of their sound. In addition to the popular rock and rap genres, applications are encouraged from bands playing salsa, bluegrass, country and jazz.
Interested bands can obtain an application and additional information from the Wayne Branch and other IMCPL locations.
The Teen Arts and Music Festival is provided with support from the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation and Big Walnut Studios.
