"This is my Mexico" Art Contest Winners Announced

This is my Mexico Art Contest WinnersThe Mexican Consulate's Office in Indianapolis and the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library honored local winners at the Glendale Branch Library in the recent national "This Is My Mexico" art contest. Children ages 7 -11 were invited to create art that illustrated their impresssions of the culture and traditions of Mexico.

Local winners were nine-year-old Thomas Day, a patron of the Nora Branch, 8625 Guilford Avenue, whose work was entitled, "The Music of Mexico," and 10-year-old Laurencia Borgerhoff, a patron of the Glendale Branch, 6101 N. Keystone Avenue, whose work was entitled, "The Foods Mexico Gave the World."

Pictured are (from left to right) Fernando Ceja and Dulce Vega (representing contest sponsor The Institute for Mexicans Abroad), Michelle Borgerhoff (representing her granddaughter Laurencia), Thomas Day, Mexican Consul Sergio Aguilera, and Glendale Branch Manager Karen Cohen. Winners received certificates, drawing kits and books.
