Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Names New Construction Management Team to Complete Central Library Addition and Renovation

The Library Board announced that the construction management team of Hunt Construction Group, Inc., in association with Smoot Construction, LLC., has been selected to complete construction of the Central Library at 40 East St. Clair. Hunt/Smoot also is managing construction of the new stadium for Indianapolis.

The Simon Family Receives National Major Benefactor Award for Support of IMCPL

The Simon Family, whose real estate investment trust is headquartered in Indianapolis, was awarded the 2005 Major Benefactors Honor by the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA), a division of the American Library Association, for its ongoing support of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library during ceremonies held November 2 at the East Thirty-Eighth Street Branch library, 5420 E. 38th Street.

Library Celebrates "Topping Out" of Transformed Central Library Tower

Community representatives and Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library officials celebrated a major construction milestone in the transformation of Central Library during a public "Topping Out" ceremony at the Central Library construction site on September 30, as the final beam of steel was placed atop the six-story tower that will comprise the major portion of the Library expansion project.

Maintaining the architectural beauty of the existing Cret Building is one of the originally-prescribed standards of construction during the Central Library Transformation Project downtown. A large part of the project has involved the restoration and preservation of limestone comprising the exterior of the 1917 building.
IMCPL Revises DVD Checkout Policy

Effective September 1, the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library will make adult feature DVD's that have been in the Library system for 180 days available for patrons to make requests and renewals either online or in person at the Library.
IMCPL Provides Sunday Hours of Service at New Locations

Beginning Sunday, September 11, three branches of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library will be open on Sundays for the first time. Lawrence Branch, located at 7898 N. Hague Road, the Pike Branch, located at 6525 Zionsville Road, and the Wayne Branch, located at 198 S. Girls School Road, will be open on Sundays from 1 - 5 p.m.
