ABOUT THE LIBRARYLibrary News & Announcements![]() Library NewsLibrary’s Secondhand Prose Booksale Rescheduled in May May 8, 2008 the next "Secondhand Prose Booksale" has been rescheduled from May 16 – 18 to May 30 – June 1, 2008 Indiana Black History Challenge Grand Prize Winner Announced April 16, 2008 The Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, Indiana Historical Society and Indiana Pacers have announced the winner of the 2008 Indiana Black History Challenge. The winner is Josh Monday, a sixth grader at Indianapolis Public School #78. He was honored at halftime of the March 31 game between the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat at Conseco Fieldhouse. IMCPL's 135th Birthday Celebration: Giving Back to the Community April 2, 2008 From its beginning in 1873 as a subscription library to its current role as a center for modern information resources, the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library has played an essential role in the lives of local residents in support of their lifelong learning interests. Today, in addition to a collection of over two million items, IMCPL's programs and services help promote early literacy, improve computer skills, and provide patrons with the information tools that are important in the 21st century. In celebration of its 135th anniversary of service, IMCPL invites the public to participate in an effort to give back to the community in the form of a special food drive benefiting Gleaners Food Bank.
