Garfield Park Branch Library Temporarily Closed
January 24, 2013
The Garfield Park Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library, located at 2502 Shelby Street, will remain closed until Wednesday, January 30 while necessary interior repairs and restoration are performed as a result of a water pipe break which occurred on January 23.
While no library materials were damaged, nearly two-thirds of the library sustained water damage, including the adult and children's areas, circulation area, computer lab and server area, staff work room and restrooms.
Extended use fees, or fines, for items due during the closing will be waived, as well as fees for failure to pick up items on hold. Reserved materials will be held and available for pick-up after the reopening. For other library services, including free computer access, patrons may visit the Fountain Square Branch, 1066 Virginia Avenue, or other Southside Indy Library locations. Also, the Library's web branch at www.indypl.org is available 24/7 to access the Library's catalog, place holds, view upcoming events, and use other library services.
Library patrons are encouraged to visit the Library's website or Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GarfieldParkBranchLibrary for any updates on the scheduled reopening of the Garfield Park Branch.
