Tax Resources Are Available at IMCPL!

February 08, 2011

Tax forms and a variety of helpful tax-related information can be found during tax season at the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library.

As a one-stop source for all tax-related items, IMCPL branch locations have most federal and state tax forms for free pick-up while supplies last. In addition, the Library's web branch at www.imcpl.org features downloadable tax forms and publications, resource materials, and answers to the most basic tax questions.

To find tax resources online, click on the "Guides and Resources" link on the Library's homepage. That will take patrons to the "Info Guides" section. Scroll down and click on the "Family, Home and Finance" category where there is a listing of sub-categories. By clicking on "Taxes" at the bottom of the page, patrons will be able to access all the tax-related websites, forms and other resource materials needed.

The exact URL for this page is http://www.imcpl.org/resources/guides/family/taxes.html.

Among the available items are Indiana Department of Revenue tax forms and publications, Internal Revenue Service forms and publications, and tax forms from other states that can be downloaded and printed. There's a link to the CPA Directory Tax Center that can help with tax preparations, as well as other online assistance services such as The Tax Prophet, Taxwizard and 1040.com.

There are links to the Internal Revenue Service website and the IRS FAQ's (frequently asked questions) site. The most common query is for the IRS toll-free telephone number... it's 1-800-829-1040.

IMCPL website includes a listing of popular materials that are available in its vast collection. These include the Federal Tax Guide (R 336.24 FED), J.K. Lasser's Your Income Tax (336.24 JKL), Indiana Tax Reporter Transfer Binder New Matters (R 336.2009772 IND), and the Kiplinger Tax Letter (PERIODICAL).

The site also features related catalog searches in the areas of taxation, tax returns or income taxes. Plus, patrons can link to related "Info Guides" on Starting a Small Business or Law.

The IMCPL tax resource web page was accessed nearly 800 times during the tax season in 2010, and nearly 1,000 times during the entire year.
