Library Partnership with EmployIndy Enhanced by New Job Assistance Website

December 15, 2011 — Individuals who are unemployed or underemployed can now receive 24/7 access to local re-employment services through the new Virtual WorkOne, managed by EmployIndy, that supplements many of the services offered at WorkOne Job Centers at five Indianapolis Public Library branches as well as Central Library.


Central Library Exhibit and Community Forum Explore Homelessness in Indianapolis

November 28, 2011 — What does it mean to be homeless in Indianapolis? How do homeless people identify their cultural heritage? An examination of these and other questions can be seen during a special exhibit entitled "What Does Homelessness Look Like?" beginning Tuesday, December 6 and continuing through Tuesday, December 20 at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair Street.


East Washington Branch's Centennial Anniversary

Garfield Park Branch Library Grand Re-Opening Scheduled for November 3

October 06, 2011 — Following a four-month renovation that will lead to modernized services and improved energy efficiency, the Garfield Park Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library will celebrate its grand re-opening on Thursday, November 3 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. and a full day of special activities for all ages at the branch located on the south side of Indianapolis at 2502 Shelby Street.


Indianapolis Public Library eBooks Now Available for Kindle!

October 05, 2011 — The Indianapolis Public Library announces that its eBook collection is now compatible with the Amazon Kindle eBook reader. Patrons can download popular and classic eBooks to a Kindle device or any mobile device running the free Kindle app.
