Labor Day Closing
All Indianapolis Public Library locations will be closed on Sunday, August 31 and Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day, except for the InfoZone which will be open each day from 10am - 5pm.
August 12, 2014 — A powerful and thought-provoking exhibit of images intended as a call-to-action against gun violence in the African-American community is on display through September 28 at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair Street. Mayor Greg Ballard joined Library and community representatives in cutting the crime-scene ribbon on August 12 to officially open the exhibit.
August 06, 2014 — Initial figures indicate a 12-year record of 59,182 children and families who experienced the joy of reading during The Indianapolis Public Library's 2014 Summer Reading Program, "Read in Any Language," which concluded on July 26. The 95th annual program, held at all Indy Library locations as well as the Beech Grove Public Library, attracted 24,639 children ages 6 - 11, 15,791 preschoolers, and 18,752 readers ages 12 and older. The preliminary totals exceeded last year's record 58,901 participants.
July 29, 2014 — The road map guiding the future of The Indianapolis Public Library is now available following the public unveiling of the Library's new five-year Strategic Plan, "Yours to Experience," that focuses on providing greater access to Library services and enhancing the Library's role to address community needs.
